Selling your diamonds, gold, silver, and platinum in Kansas City area

Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler is now buying gold, diamonds, silver, and platinum.

Of late, my clients are always asking me what to do with their gold. At $1,500 an ounce it seems like you should melt whatever gold you have just sitting around in outdated jewelry. The Atlantic recently askedif there is a bubble going on now. I’m not one to try and predict metal markets. I’m just along for the ride like everyone else.

But I can say if you decide to cash in on some gold, please do be careful. With a 75% increase in price over the last three years, the scammers have come to prey. The horror stories are well documented, but what’s less understood is exactly why a few old rings don’t add up to that much cash. Most rings are 14 karat (58.5% pure gold) or 18 karat (75% pure gold). The refinery is only paying you for the pure gold not the alloy. Also the original jewelry has the labor and profit which you lose at scrap prices.

Be careful if you decide to sell your old scrap metal. It has value and you want to get the highest price possible. Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler promises to be discreet and treat you with courtesy and integrity. Call or stop by the studio at 4901 West 119th Street, Suite 200 in Overland Park to discuss selling your diamonds, gold, silver, or platinum.

Remember, Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler has been repairing, selling, and creating custom jewelry as well as buying gold and other precious metals for over 30 years.

Happy holidays Richard. David & I have been purchasing small amounts of gold from a man we trust in Terre Haute but we are paying a 7% charge in the purchase of gold eagles (.25) and 10% (.1). We are now at a place where we would like to start buying gold at estate, auction sales, etc. but selling at a "third party" level seems a little cumbersome. Do you have any suggestions on selling "direct" to a dealer who melts gold? This is merely a hobby and Linda has purchased a "diamond" detector, scales, "gold" detector, etc. She loves doing this but she is in a bit of a quandry in the "selling" end of her process. Thanks Richard. Any suggestions will be appreciated. We will be in the Kansas area the third and fourth week of January as well as the first week of February, babysitting our wonderful grandchildren while their mother opens a new CVS in Branson. Again, happy holidays. Dave & Linda Gorrell
