Custom re-creation of a family heirloom

We specialize in taking heirloom jewelry from the past and turning them into modern treasures at Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler in Overland Park, Kansas.

A client stopped by the store with a ring she inherited from her mother. The ring was very beautiful, but was in the style from the 1970s. The ring was made with three large 8.5 mm cultured pearls and eight 0.25 carat round brilliant diamonds. My client wanted to use all of the gemstones in new creations. The goal was to create something that looked modern but would remain timeless.

We first started with the deconstruction of the original ring and evaluated the size of the pearls and diamonds so that we could start the design work. The client brought in a picture of a ring design she liked. Marsha and the client worked together to finalize the design using four diamonds from the original ring. After the model was carved, we cast the ring in 14k yellow gold and the top adornments in 14k white gold.

After setting the diamonds, constructing the top adornments, assembling the ring, and going through the final polish, the ring was ready for presentation.

The next part of the project is to make a pair of earrings and a pendant using the additional gemstones. Future blogs will show you the results.

We look forward to meeting you in the near future to help you complete your custom jewelry project done in our state of the art jewelry shop.
