As a jeweler I have many years of experience appraising, buying, and selling antique and estate jewelry. Often this results in acquiring antique jewelry, which has always been popular but is now reported to be a hot trend for 2013. If you pay attention to the Oscar awards coverage, some of the most popular actresses chose to accessorize their wardrobe with true antique jewelry.
Think Downton Abbey or The Great Gatsby. There is something about jewelry from the late 1800s to early 1920s that never loses popularity. With the blockbuster movie The Great Gatsby coming to the big screen in May, you can bet this look will become even more popular.
In my state of the art jewelry studio in Overland Park, I can help you purchase authentic antique jewelry or even help to create a custom piece inspired by antique design elements.
Here is one example of a custom cross made for a client. After seeing a picture of a late 19th century cross, he was inspired to have a one of a kind gold cross created for his wife. This hand-made cross consists of ceylon sapphires and diamonds set in 18k yellow gold. The client supplied an photo of the original cross from the Victorian era, which he wanted duplicated for his wife. Here is the finished heirloom cross.
I have also purchased many outstanding piece of vintage jewelry over the years, which I would love to share with you. In my opinion people used to have a lot more time to spend on minute details which makes each one of these vintage pieces something special. It is fun to be able to own these pieces and realize that many of them are well over 100 years old. When buying vintage jewelry you are maintaining a piece of the past for future generations to enjoy.
