One of our favorite projects at Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler is taking family heirlooms and re-purposing them into new jewelry that can be worn and enjoyed on a daily basis.
A wonderful client contacted us with many pieces of jewelry inherited and accumulated over the years. The purpose of this jewelry project was to revitalize these keepsakes into new up to date pieces and heirlooms that could be passed on to future generations. There were many different pieces, which each turned out to be a project in itself, combining diamonds and figuring out styles that would suite my client's lifestyle and compliment her jewelry wardrobe.
Included in the custom project were engagement rings, wedding rings, right hand rings, and an heirloom antique pocket watch. Our client, our Master Jeweler, and myself sat down and after multiple visits, created a plan to make two pendants, a new 3 stone ring, totally refurbish the pocket watch, and redo her wedding set. Another problem we had to tackle was eliminating rings that would spin on her finger by installing expandable ring shanks.
All of these pieces were made with diamonds from existing jewelry. Diamonds were removed and reset. Old gold was scrapped and used to pay for a part of the project cost. Here is a view of the new jewelry collection.
